The weblinks page is the pile of places that mention me. This one is shorter. It is what I hand someone when we need a time, a clock, or a scribble, and then the things older posts already named, corrected where I have moved on.
Scheduling
When a group needs a time I send crab.fit. I paint
the hours I can make, they paint theirs, and you can watch the overlap
fill in. Ben Grant wrote it, GPLv3, and
the repository is the whole
story. A name can have a password, but that only stops someone else
editing that one row. Leave an event alone for three months and it goes
away, which is fine. No ads. WhenIsGood is
the same grid and I stopped sending it because of the ads.
Countdown
The timer on a slide is Garrick Aden-Buie’s countdown
package. countdown(minutes = 5), click or space to start, double-click
or escape to reset. If the room does not have R open, the same clock is
full screen at apps.garrickadenbuie.com/countdown.
Scribbles
Jamboard is gone. Google turned the old
jams into PDFs in 2025, which is an archive, not a board.
Whiteboard Fox looked like the
replacement (a room lands on a host like
r8.whiteboardfox.com, that r8 is not
a code) but the free boards carry ads, so I don’t send those. What I
send is WBO. Make a private board, send the
link, the drawing stays. The code is
whitebophir, and there are
no ads. A scribble I want on my own machine afterwards is still
Xournal++, same as the
touchscreen post.
Code in Place
Still from that writeup, minus Jamboard:
- Dateful (it used to be Starts at) when the link itself has to carry the timezone
- Straw Poll when I only need a quick vote
- HackMD for notes, and for the pseudocode you write while people are watching
Older posts, updated
The posts lag a bit.
- The bibliography is Ridley now, not Zotero. The note workflow and the e-ink post still say Zotero, because that is what I was using then.
- On the Kobo I read in KOReader, which is most of that e-ink post. I still don’t use the stock interface.
- Doom Emacs, the literate config.
- The window manager these days is Sway, written up in the compose-keys post. The Colemak post is older and still talks about i3, Vimium, and Zathura.
bat, bottom, ripgrep,fd, and the rest of that little table live in the 2021 HPC post.
